Our Story

Windhond Blits was born out of a simple frustration, the struggle to start a fire that actually lasts. While spending time around the fire, my father-in-law and I realized that many firelighters on the market did not offer both a long burn time and a consistent flame. We decided to find a better solution.

We tested 13 different firelighter brands and spent weeks developing and refining our own formula. After a great deal of trial and error, we finally created a firelighter that burns for up to 20 minutes, delivering reliable and consistent performance every time.

Around the same time, my wife surprised me with an Italian Greyhound puppy named Aaden. We later discovered that the name “Aaden” means fire and flame in Arabic, which perfectly matched what we had been working on. Inspired by our new furry family member, we named our company Windhond Blits — a tribute to the fast and elegant Italian Greyhound, and the blazing performance of our firelighters.

Windhond Blits is proudly owned and operated by Armand and Charmoné Oosthuizen. Our focus is on quality products, reliable performance, and helping our customers start the perfect fire every time.

Today, Windhond Blits is built on quality, reliability, and the simple enjoyment of a great fire shared with friends and family.
